A partnership between the British Council and the International School of Film and TV in San Antonio de los Baños, CubAnima consists of a week-long series of masterclasses and workshops by the UK animation professionals Paul Bush, Barry Jonathan C. Purves, Jonathan James Hodgson and Karina Michelle Standford-Smith, for practicing skilled Cuban animators to further develop their craft and exchange ideas. This group of animators will become tutors for a cascading model to share this experience with other animators along Cuba and contribute to open up Cuban animation to the international scene.
The main activities will include the development of masterclasses and practical workshops in production and distribution, story development and structure, and in different aspects of 2D and stop-frame animation. The participants will choose 3 out of the 6 workshops to attend depending on their own interests. On the final day, the participants will each have time to show work or propose a project and have it discussed by all the UK film-makers and the attendees. There will be a film screening every evening.
