In the Caribbean, the British Council has offices in Cuba, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago where we offer people unique experiences through participation in the arts by fostering collaboration and networks. We aim to create reciprocal opportunities by finding new ways to connect with and understand each other, and through building capacity, collaborating, and sharing the best of UK arts.
The Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) and the British Council released the findings of the Jamaica Cultural & Creative Industries (CCI) Mapping exercise conducted during 2020.
In late 2017, BC invited applications for the professional development short course (International Festival Academy) and received 18 applications from local practitioners.

The Backstage to the Future: Caribbean, skills training programme is designed to develop and nurture future live event producers and technicians across the outdoor/music live events sector in San Andres and Providencia (Colombia), Venezuela, Jamaica and Cuba, with a focus on technical and soft skills (communication/networking) for the performing arts and live events sector.
The objectives of the programme are to develop a technical skills training programme focused on live sound engineering, lighting design & operation, stage management and community arts.
